Does your marketing work – or are you just another example of

‘Even Dead Fish Swim Downstream?’

 

The unvarnished truth out there is that not only does your marketing not work to its best level – it probably isn’t marketing at all. Most thinly disguised objectives are labeled as ‘marketing’, but at best represent where you would like your business to be at some future time. 

 

Growth is deliberate and intentional – and unfortunately it is plenty of hard work. The vast majority of companies we consult with usually have a decent handle on their product or services (some simply do not – sorry!). They are not, however, great communicators hence their advertising and marketing investment is usually another term for monies wasted – monies NOT tracked – and plenty of mixed messages between the staff, collateral material, and the end product.

Look over the rest of this site, and see if you find your head ‘nodding’ when you check your marketing pieces (and systems if you have them) against what absolutely MUST be done in order to achieve exponential growth. There is rarely a happy medium – if your ‘stuff’ appears to be working but perhaps not as well as you would like – you are more likely relying on momentum of the marketplace. The term ‘even dead fish swim downstream’ is quite appropriate. Entire industry sectors mutually waste time and money, and still congratulate themselves heartily on bringing some customers through the door. If this is your business – beware of your competitor who actually wakes up and discovers that marketing and innovation are the only two investments – the remainder of places to put your revenue are simply costs (Peter Drucker).
